Q3 WalletConnect Ecosystem Roundup

Introduction

The WalletConnect ecosystem continues to evolve alongside major shifts in crypto regulation, payments, and the broader onchain industry.

As traditional finance and digital assets converge, banks, fintechs, and institutions need secure, compliant ways to move money and access onchain markets. WalletConnect is the connectivity network for the digital asset economy, connecting wallets, financial institutions, and DeFi across all major blockchains. Through products spanning payments, trading, and compliance, WalletConnect helps businesses access the onchain economy through a network that already connects 700+ wallets and thousands of institutions.

This year, WalletConnect also released the Policy, Compliance & Regulation Report 2026, developed together with a broad group of partners and contributors from across the industry. The report brings together perspectives on the regulatory and compliance developments shaping crypto today, and what they mean for wallets, infrastructure providers, payment companies, and the broader onchain ecosystem.

At the same time, the WCT ecosystem itself continues to mature across network activity, staking and governance, WalletConnect Pay, and ecosystem incentives.

Chris Murrer, Chief Legal and Strategy Officer, WalletConnect: “As regulatory regimes mature, our partners face increasingly complex obligations across markets. At WalletConnect, we design the Network and our offerings to help them meet those requirements while preserving the openness and interoperability that make onchain systems valuable. Our relationships across banks, asset issuers, custody providers, and wallets give us a direct understanding of what institutions need to move onchain. That access helps shape our business strategy: where we build, which partnerships we pursue, and how we turn the Network’s reach into sustainable commercial opportunities.

For the WCT community, the ambition is to translate that institutional access into lasting network adoption. That means building services businesses need, creating more reasons to participate in the Network, and allocating resources with a long-term view. We want an ecosystem with the utility and resilience to keep growing across market cycles.”

WCT Ecosystem Overview

WalletConnect Network

In August 2026, WalletConnect released an H1 Network Report, looking back at the Network’s growth, usage, and ecosystem development across the first half of the year.

In Q3, we continued expanding that connectivity through new integrations, broader network support, and tools that help partners understand and grow their activity.

The metrics below show how this translated into usage, transaction volume, and participation across the ecosystem.

  • Solana:766 active apps, 492,097 transactions, and $3.82B in value.
  • Aave: 14,655 unique wallets across 22 chains and 161 countries, generating 197,501 transactions.
  • Circle / USDC:USDC activity across DeFi, payments, and multiple chains through WalletConnect.
  • TRON: $213.1M in value moved through WalletConnect on TRON.
  • Arbitrum:WalletConnect connects businesses to Arbitrum’s settlement infrastructure and stablecoin liquidity for payments.
  • MetaMask: $1.87B moved across 4.72M transactions through MetaMask-connected wallets.
  • USDG: $206M in value across 5,273 transactions.

This real usage across apps, wallets, networks, and assets is foundational to WalletConnect’s path toward sustainable monetization.

The Role of WCT and TNV

Total Network Volume (TNV) represents the value flowing through the WalletConnect Network. It is proof of adoption at scale, by wallets, custodians, financial apps, and enterprises worldwide. But TNV is only one part of the story.

WCT is the underlying asset of the WalletConnect Network economy, serving as a utility token for staking, governance, and rewards for users and ecosystem participants.

As adoption accelerates, WCT’s importance will only grow. Its role in securing and governing the network will expand, reinforcing WalletConnect’s mission to provide open, institutional-grade access to the financial internet.

$WCT Updates

By staking WCT, users help secure the network and earn sustainable rewards backed by real network usage.

Pedro Gomes, Founder, WalletConnect: “WalletConnect started with a simple idea that people should be able to connect their wallets to the applications they want to use and stay in control of their assets. That idea continues to guide how we build the network and improve WCT. As more financial activity moves onchain, we have an opportunity to build infrastructure that remains open, reliable and shaped by the people who depend on it.

Monetization has always been the final milestone for the success of the WalletConnect Network. We are making substantial progress with our ecosystem partners to turn that ambition into reality. For the WCT community, seeing the adoption we have built together translate into a sustainable network that brings value to its participants is a major milestone.

Our staking program has been successful and we are continually researching how to improve its health. We analyze participation, reward distribution and sustainability, and compare our mechanisms with similar programs across other crypto assets. Our ambition is to keep WCT competitive at the top of its class, rewarding commitment while making participation more attractive.

WCT is considered in every product decision we make, as an instrument for governance, incentives and utility across the network. As WalletConnect expands across verticals, WCT must continue to power the ecosystem. Governance gives our community a way to influence that direction. We encourage token holders to stay informed about our product development and provide feedback on the direction we are taking, so they can have a meaningful voice in our decisions.

Our ambition is for WalletConnect to become infrastructure people can depend on, with WCT giving its community a lasting role in that journey. Getting there takes useful products, thoughtful stewardship and people who care enough to participate. Everyone using the network, staking WCT and contributing to governance helps shape how WalletConnect operates today.”

Staking

WCT staking continues to develop as a core part of the ecosystem, aligning token holders with the long-term growth and governance of the WalletConnect Network.

Key Data Points

  • 95,690,090 WCT staked
  • 72,506 active stakers
  • 20.37% of circulating WCT staked (451.91M circulating supply)
  • 2,947,116.66 WCT distributed in staking rewards

In August, we engaged our top stakers with a VIP merch drop for the top five participants and brought our staking community together on Discord. This sparked several substantive discussions and created a closer dialogue with some of the Network’s most committed participants.

Building on those conversations, we agreed to host more governance discussions and votes, giving the community more opportunities to contribute ideas and participate in decisions about the Network’s future.

Governance Proposal & Voting

As WalletConnect continues exploring and designing the Network’s long-term monetisation system, Founder Pedro Gomes opened "WalletConnect Monetization & WCT Tokenomics: Open Design Space on the Governance Forum, inviting the community to contribute ideas and suggestions around the future utility of WCT within the WalletConnect Network.

The discussion is intended to bring the community directly into the design process as the ecosystem explores how WCT can play a meaningful role in Network participation, incentives, governance, and future monetisation mechanisms.

Alongside this broader utility discussion, the next iteration of the staking reward mechanism is also moving through the governance process. The goal is to make WCT staking more competitive and dynamic across different market conditions, allowing the reward model to adapt more effectively through both bear and bull markets.

The proposed P4 — New APY Formula and RewardWeight introduces updates to how staking rewards and participant weighting are calculated. It is currently moving through community discussion, with a governance vote to follow.

Adoption

Jess Houlgrave
Chief Executive Officer, WalletConnect

“Having spent years in payments, including at Checkout.com, I see an enormous opportunity in making onchain money work for businesses. Merchants and payment providers care about reaching more customers, improving conversion, and reducing the cost of accepting payments. Stablecoins can help deliver those outcomes, and WalletConnect connects that opportunity to the wallets and assets people already use.

For the WCT community, this is the scale of the opportunity we’re building toward: a Network that becomes part of everyday commerce. Our focus is on turning WalletConnect’s reach into active integrations, repeat payment usage, and sustainable revenue, while developing WCT’s utility alongside that growth. The ambition is to build a lasting payments business that strengthens the wider ecosystem.

WalletConnect continues to broaden adoption across tokens, networks, wallets, and institutional partners.”

Appendix: Data Definitions & Calculation Methodology

Source: Internal analytics based on onchain transaction data, WalletConnect and Reown SDK connection activity, and WalletConnect Pay payment records, except where a public source is linked below. Q3 refers to July 1–September 30, 2026.

Network Metrics

Total Network Volume (TNV): The $97.5B figure is calculated as the sum of total_max_flow_amount_usd across Q3 TNV records.

Wallet-to-app connections: The 15.3M figure represents recorded connection events in Q3. Each newly approved wallet-to-app pairing creates a new session and counts as a connection, so the same wallet and app can be counted again if they establish a new session. Re-opening an app with an existing live session does not create another connection.

Transactions: The 12.8M figure represents unique onchain transactions signed through wallets connected via WalletConnect in Q3, including approvals, signatures, contract calls, and other transactions. Transactions are deduplicated by blockchain and transaction hash, so multi-token transactions count once.

Network Rankings

Top chains and apps: Selected by measured Network volume during Q3 within their respective categories.

Top wallets: Selected using Q3 Total Network Volume (TNV) and wallet-to-app connection activity. The public list is displayed alphabetically rather than in rank order.

Top assets: Each asset is ranked separately by Network volume in USD and transaction count. The two rank positions are averaged, and assets are ordered from the lowest average rank to the highest. This gives equal weight to the value moved and the frequency of transactions, rather than ranking assets by volume alone.

Transaction attribution: Only transactions with positive Total Network Volume (TNV) are included in the asset ranking. Each qualifying transaction is assigned to the asset carrying the largest share of its value, so it is counted only once in the asset breakdown. ETH and WETH are treated as separate assets.

How Wallets, Apps and Users Are Counted

Wallet and app counts in this report use a cleaned, brand-level methodology where noted. Raw project IDs are filtered to remove scam/dev traffic, test or development projects, unnamed or generic projects, and projects with fewer than 10 lifetime users. Remaining project IDs are grouped into brands using normalized names so platform, environment and version variants such as iOS, Android, mobile, web, extension, beta, prod and versioned builds count once.

Brand grouping is name-based rather than an official registry, so unusual names can occasionally cause brands to be grouped or split incorrectly. The 10-user threshold also makes recent launches slightly conservative because projects launched later in the quarter have had less time to reach it.

Wallet SDK Metrics

New wallets: 91 wallets made their first-ever wallet-side WalletConnect connection in Q3 after applying the test/dev, unnamed, sub-10-user and brand-deduplication filters. If any project under the same normalized brand connected as a wallet before Q3, the brand is not counted as new.

App SDK Metrics

New dApp brands: 1,986 dApp brands made their first-ever app-side WalletConnect or AppKit connection in Q3 after removing scam-flagged hosts, test/dev, unnamed, sub-10-user and duplicate builds.

New Embedded Wallets

Approximately 33.8K new embedded wallet addresses were first recorded through Reown email or social login in Q3 after excluding activity associated with scam or test-like app names,

“Created” is estimated from first recorded email or social-login use rather than an independently verified wallet-creation timestamp. These are wallet addresses, not unique people or wallet-provider integrations.

Staking Metrics

Staking figures are sourced from the publicly accessible WalletConnect WCT dashboard on Dune. The 2,947,116.66 WCT distributed in staking rewards figure covers Q3 only, not cumulative rewards.

Coverage and Growth Comparisons

Activity counts reflect the available connection records. Additional relay-session and RPC-usage data are not included, so the counts are lower-bound measures of observed SDK activity.

Quarter-over-quarter growth compares Q3 with Q2 using the same metric and counting rules: (Q3 count − Q2 count) ÷ Q2 count × 100. Rounded headline figures may not reproduce the reported percentages exactly.
