USDT on TRON is now available on WalletConnect Pay

WalletConnect Pay now supports USDT on TRON. Merchants and payment service providers can accept USDT on TRON, in store and online, through a single integration. Payments settle in stablecoin or fiat, and sanctions screening and Travel Rule capture are built into every payment.

What is USDT on TRON?

USDT is a stablecoin pegged to the US dollar. It is issued on several blockchains, and TRON is one of the most widely used. On TRON, USDT is often called USDT TRC-20, after the token standard it uses.

Many people use USDT on TRON as everyday digital dollars: for sending money to family, paying across borders, and holding value. For a lot of customers, it is where their dollar balance already sits.

Why does USDT on TRON matter for merchants and PSPs?

Customers want to pay from the balance they already hold. If that balance is USDT on TRON and your checkout doesn't support it, the customer has to move funds first, or they leave.

With WalletConnect Pay, USDT on TRON becomes one more payment method at your checkout. You don't need a separate integration, new compliance tooling, or changes to your stack.

How does a USDT payment on TRON work with WalletConnect Pay?

  1. At checkout, the merchant shows a QR code or payment link. In store, the customer can also use tap-to-pay.
  2. The customer opens their wallet and chooses USDT on TRON.
  3. WalletConnect Pay prepares the transaction. The amount and destination are fixed before the customer signs, so there's no address to copy and no room for a mistyped amount.
  4. The customer reviews the payment and signs it in their wallet.
  5. WalletConnect Pay submits the payment to the TRON network and reports its status through to confirmation.
  6. The merchant receives clear payment data for automatic reconciliation, and settles in stablecoin or fiat.

What do merchants and PSPs get?

  • One integration. USDT on TRON runs through the same APM-style integration as every other WalletConnect Pay payment method, on your existing point-of-sale systems and checkout.
  • Settlement your way. Receive stablecoin to a wallet, or fiat to your bank through a regulated partner.
  • Compliance built in. Wallets and users are screened against OFAC sanctions lists and checked for restricted-region IPs before a payment clears. The result is returned to your systems, and the policy you configure decides the outcome. Travel Rule data is captured inside the payment flow, in formats your existing controls already read.
  • Automatic reconciliation. Every transaction comes with clear payment data, so you can reconcile and credit with no manual work.
  • Lower cost. Acceptance costs are lower than card networks.
